Check your optionsHow this calculator works. It applies each state and territory's published motor vehicle duty rates for non-passenger vehicles to the value you enter. "Per $100 or part" means the value is rounded up to the next $100 (or $200 in Victoria) before the rate is applied. The GST credit is one-eleventh of the GST-inclusive price and dealer delivery, and is only available to GST-registered businesses buying the vehicle for business use. Stamp duty and most registration charges don't include GST.
What it doesn't cover. Passenger cars, trailers, concessions and exemptions (for example primary producer, family transfers or dealer exemptions), luxury car tax, and duty on vehicles registered interstate. Market value rules and how bodywork or accessories are treated vary between states. For light commercial vehicles in the ACT, duty depends on the vehicle's CO2 rating, so use the ACT Revenue Office calculator. Always confirm the final amount with the relevant revenue office.
